Microsoft Streets and Trips

Hi there,

This is my first post and I hope I'm in the right forum.

I've searched the entire site for any reference to Microsoft Streets and Trips but haven't found what I'm looking for. I've been using Streets and Trips for a while to plan driving routes both here in North America and in Europe. I like the way it works, probably because I'm used to it, but I'd like to be able to download an itinerary that I've planned in the software into a GPS unit for the car. That way, I can use the GPS to run the route I've planned in MS.

I have an old Magellan unit and a fairly new TomTom One but if anyone is aware of a good GPS that will accept an MS S&T route as a download, I'd be looking at buying it.

Hey Jim,

You have posted in the Garmin GPS products forum, and I (personally) can only answer your question concerning Garmin products. That being the case, the answer for Garmin is no, they will not accept S&T routes. Their routing software is proprietary. They do, however, have a program call Mapsource. If you have a Garmin GPS unit that will accept "routes", the route can be built in Mapsource and uploaded to the GPS device. Mapsource is very similar to MS S&T, but not quite as intuitive. Sorry I can't answer for the other GPS manufactures, but you might try going to their web sites, and e-mailing your question to them.

Cheers......... Joel
