Magellan is low quality and terrible support

Do NOT purchase a Magellan GPS navigator. I made the mistake of buying one for $599. Someone warned me at the time that they had problems with their Magellan but I thought it was an isolated incident. After my unit stopped working. I called the Magellan support department. They offered to fix it for $155 or they could sell me a refurbished unit for $239.99 with a three month warranty. For that price I could buy a new unit. They then offered me a “great deal” on other Magellan models. I looked into it and found they were quoting me the retail prices and then offering it to me for the store price. I called Magellan support again and asked if they could do something so my $599 was not a total loss. Roger said he would check and call me back. He never called back. Magellan is lousy support and lousy quality. Buy a low quality Magellan GPS navigator every year or buy another brand? I tossed the $599 Magellan in the trash where it belongs. It feels like taking a match and burning six $100 bills.

It’s surprising that a company could stay in business with such crap. Then again, they do make a lot of money by fixing or selling refurbished crap to people who don’t mind being robbed.
